I was on top of it... until I wasn't...
...Ramadan was going to be in late winter/early spring of 2026, so instead of waiting to do our 2026 photos in the dead of winter, I thought it would be perfect to take advantage of the lovely fall weather and get our photos in early. Each year, I drag my hapless fasting family out right before Iftar (to get good lighting, of course), dressed in their best clothing on raggedly tired and empty-stomached bodies, and then maniacally take photos until Nehan inevitably breaks any and all patience I may have. I then scurry to get my holiday cards printed, wax sealed, and stamped like the extra queen that I am and quickly despatch them to friends and family. A hectic, mad-dash process, but a process nonetheless. This year, however, I thought I'd get on top of things and get the photos taken well before Ramadan, with better weather, full-stomachs, and plenty of time.
Except, as you all know, Mother Nature hates my plans. She's rained me out of my outdoor events on more occasions than I can count, and she had no intention of doing anything different this time around. Keep in mind, she rained us out of our 2025 photo session as well - she clearly hates me. So, as we made our way to Genoa park and the COSI grounds, we caught ourselves in the rain. Determined, we waited it out, and when the rain kind of stopped, we scrambled to get some photos in (I actually love the ones from that day), and then returned to our car with frizzier hair than before. I knew there were some additional photos I wanted to take, so with some begging and pleading, I managed to convince the family to get dressed up again and head out to the same location again for our last round of photos the week later. All in all, it was still a mad dash, and Nehan did break my patience, but hey... at least we got the photos! Phew!
